Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m planning to spend the evening curled up on my couch with my current read and my pups. Don’t worry, Evan and I are celebrating tomorrow night!
I’ll admit, I’m not a big fan of romance novels but I do love a good drama with a love story tied in. These books may not be your stereotypical romance book, but isn’t one of the best joys of the literary world the fact that we are all entitled and encouraged to form our own interpretation?! Below are some of my top picks to read this Valentine’s weekend if you’re feeling the vibe or if you’re like me, planning to spend the night cozying up to a book!
ONE DAY IN DECEMBER by Josie Silver
Don’t let the title fool you, this book has nothing to do with holidays and everything to do with fate and soulmates. Laurie is the ultimate hopeFUL romantic type and when she locks eyes with Jack from the window inside a crowded transit bus on a snowy December night, she knows right then and there he is the one for her. She searches an entire year for him in various places throughout the city knowing she would instantly remember his eyes after so long. For my full review – go here!
HOW TO FIND LOVE IN A BOOKSHOP by Veronica Henry
While not necessarily about finding love with a person, but moreso a bookshop. Perfect for romantics AND book nerds! How To Find Love In A Bookshop is such a sweet, simple and honest story that will resonate well with book lovers. For my full review – go here!
THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green
If you’re in the mood to cry a GOOD, HARD cry – go ahead and dare to read this. It was so emotional for me, that I couldn’t even review it. I’m sure we’re all well aware of the premise of this book, so I won’t even say further.
[a trilogy] ME BEFORE YOU / AFTER YOU / STILL ME by Jojo Moyes
One of my favorite authors and favorite “series”, the Me Before You trilogy will have you entrenched in Louisa and Will’s love story. I reviewed Still Me that can be found here, but only read if you don’t care about following the order of things.
IT ENDS WITH US by Colleen Hoover
More of a dark twist on a love story buried under the hard truth for so many relationships, you’ll probably devour this read in a night. I just reviewed this recently – go here!
